There are plenty of cheap printers, but then they make their money on the ink. I’m looking for a laser printer that starts cheap and stays cheap.

I use a Samsung ML 2100 series. The printer is pretty cheap in general. The toner/drum is sold as a kit for about 70-80 at a retail store (you can find it cheaper online if you look). Approx 21ppm

You might look at better ink for your injet also. Most toner isn’t any better than basic ink for longevity. They do make special ink cartridges that have a longer lasting ink though.

I have been looking at the low end models from HP, Samsung and Brother, which seem to hover around $ 150, depending on where you shop. I definitely need color, but not for photos. Any graphics I print would be icons and logos and many may have gradients, so I’m not sure how well these cheap printers would print them. Any help or suggestions on specific models is appreciated.

There’s an article comparing colour laser printers in the August edition of Macworld.

They rate a HP, Konica, Lexmark, Oki Data, and Xerox. The Lexmark gets top marks according to the article. It’s a Lexmark C544dn and the article says that is cost $ 499.

wireless laser printer:

Question by Shadie E: Link to cheap wireless b&w laser printer / scanner aio?
I am looking for a b&w laser printer that has wireless networking and a scanner function. I have found ones for $ 100 new that don’t have wireless, or same price for a wireless printer that doesn’t have scanning, that sort of thing.
Anyone know something that combines being wireless, having a laser printer and having a scanner? And is affordable?

You are not going to find what you are looking for.

The most inexpensive wireless all in ones start at about $ 250-$ 300 and are made by samsung. (SCX 4500W)

The wireless feature adds about $ 150 to the price tag of a printer, the scanner about another $ 50.

You wither need to increase your budget, or compromise on the wireless feature to find what you are looking for.
