I need a new printer, and have been very frustrated with inkjet printers so far, because the ink dries up in them, clogging the nozzles over time. I think part of the problem is that I go long periods of time without printing anything. I do print a lot, but only sporadically. I need an all in one, because my space is extremely limited, and I do like the photocopying feature anyhow. When I read reviews on home office color lasers, some people really run them down, but it always seems as if they are comparing them to their 00 machines they use at work, so I don’t know if the printers are junk, or these people are being unfair about their expectations for a 0 – 0 machine. I don’t print photos at home, but I do like to use color making greeting cards and business cards & signs etc. I know for a home machine, the price per page of printing might not be much lower than inkjet because they get you on the toner cartridges, but I am hoping that having so much less wasted ink might make it worth it.

Anyway, advice would be appreciated! I think I would prefer a laser, for reliability, but if there are good reasons not to get an inexpensive home model, please tell me. Thanks!

1. DESKTOP – Acer 1GB RAM desktop computer (AM1610-E1202A), comes with Intel dual processor and 160GB Hard Drive.
2. MONITOR – LG flat monitor 19" (L192WS-SN) and
3. PRINTER – HP Laser Printer (LJ3050)

I got a good price (I think) at Future Shop, Canada – total 0+tax for all 3. However I do not know much about computers and wanted to know if you have any negative feedback or tip on the above before I purchase them tomorrow.. By the way I need it for a home base business where I have pretty basic requirements except a need for a good laser printer.

Oh, I also wanted to ask about the operating system – the computer comes with VISTA. Is VISTA really worse than XP as I read in some reviews, is it slower or something? or should it not be a concern since 1GB RAM is fast enough to handle it.

Hi, I have an Epson Color 980 computer printer and I’m duplicating and printing old years 1890 to 1930 pictures so my entire family will have copies. I’m doing this on hp premium plus inkjet glossy photo paper 8 1/2 X 11, 11.5 mil paper. I’m using Inksel cartridges I get for myself at work. Should I worry that the ink or paper will fade in the future? Any suggestions on purchasing the good stuff? Also, my friend wants to buy the best and cheapest but quality printer for large color prints (for people, birds, sunsets etc) for her Dell Computer she got last year. Should she get any specific Epson, Canon or what printer? I went online to look for reviews but it’s very confusing. Thank you for any suggestions. Cool Breeze!

I have just started research to buy a color multifunction laser printer. Mixed reviews out there. I would like to spend 0 or so (or less!). Anyone been thru this process that can help me with finding a reliable machine with reasonable quality print, low cost per page for toner. I am not as concerned about noise or warm up time. I am considering a brother 8480 and the hp 2320nf. I am open to other suggestions.
OOps I think it is the Brother 9440 color.
I know the toner is cheaper for the brother, but the drum needs replaced every 17000 or so copies. It is expensive to replace. I think we do about 7000 pages a month on this machine in our small office.

I just bought a inkjet printer, haven’t opened yet. But I’ve been reviewing and noticed there are some "Brother" laser printers for reasonable prices. I was wondering which would be better to remain with my Canon inkjet printer or Brother laser printer?
